Armstrong (CCM)

CCM (Clews Competition Motorcycles) was bougth by Armstrong (Armstrong Comtpetition Motorcycles) in the early 1980ies.

I don't know, when the first CCM  2stroke trials bike came to the market, must be 1981, but the BSA based CCM 350 4stroke developped by Nick Jeffries was produced 1978.
see my CCM page

CCM and Armstrong were imported by Ernst Häusler in to Switzerland. The trials bikes were rare but beautiful, as the engine were Miller Hiro's. A collegue of mine, Javier Eiriz, made his career 1983 / 1984 as an outsider on the Armstrong and quickly won the National class trials, then moved up to the International class. There he switched to Joel Corroys JCM, where he became Swiss Champion in the highest class. This was amazing, as he trained alone. However, as a young spaniard, he also trained in spain with world class champs. At that time, jumping the front wheel just started and Javier was one of the first to adapt this new style.

I could try his CCM / Armstrong 310 and 320, while myself riding a Montesa Cota 349. I was very impressed about the lighter and more torquy Hiro engine. Unfortunately, as a student this nice bike was out of my reach...

1982 John Lampkin was a works rider, won first WC points for Armstrong.

Armstrong CMT became UK Champion 1983 with Steve Saunders.
Steve continued 1984, but changed then to Honda 1985 to ride the new monoshock RS 250 Honda 4 stroker.

Here some scans from the prospectus.
