Jura Trial Classic 2 Day
4/5 Septembre 2021

After the more than a year of Covid pause, Walter and I were excited to ride again a big classic trial in France.

The team around Jean-Marie Vallet, president of Moto Club du Risoux, has organised a big event for the 50th anniversary of the club.

About 140 riders were expected in the woods of the french Jura around Moirans en Montagne.

We took Friday afternoon off and after 4 hours drive from Zurich, we arrived for the inscription and moto check. After presenting the Covid vacination, we all became a red "club med band" to wear in the next days.

Walter needed a soft protector for his Renthal bar, which we could find on a spare bar in our car. Then his SWM passed the control.

In the hall of the local boule club (yes, a ver french sport :)) was a nice exhibtion of twinshocker from club members, all first Japanese models Honda, Kawasaki, Suzuki, Yamaha and others.

It was nice to great friends from France, Germany, Belgium, Italy and few Swiss.

Unfortunately, our hotel room was in 3rd floor and our old knees and drunk condition made it almost a zone to reach our beds...

let's start

As I had big problems with my knees 4 weeks ago (Meniskus and all other things no more in top condition), I decided to ride with Walter in the green class. I could ride well, but once sitten down, I almost could no more stand up again.. yes I'm getting older

The dry weather made the zones easy for me, but I was happy to ride and enjoyed the zones. The challange was not to miss a green door, which Walter did on his 2nd tour.

great job done on this Honda

I finished the whole day clean, zero points in the green. So I decided to start on Sunday in the blue class. Don't tell my doc...

the Legends Eric Lejeune and Charles Coutard were honored happy diner after a great day

A nice sunny Sunday morning welcomed us for new zones and interzones. There was a thunderstorm in the night and the white Jura rocks a bit slippery.

Anyway, same for all, but the sones were more tricky.

yes, the sun is out white Yamaha with nice parts

As the blue zones were more tricky and the soil more slippery, I took less pics and concentrad on riding. Some zones were difficult, but I managed some zeros, no crash and only one 5 due to stopping the engine.

So a challange, with 47 point in 2 rounds, no crahs, happy to finish, as I learned, that many competitors had to give up (abandon).

Unfortunately, Jean Luc Nictou's Ariel gave up and Pascal Couturier won the Pre65 red. If you were watching him, it seemed all so easy, a real champ! He lost only 3 Points in the whole 2 days in the sometimes brutal red zones. Not from this planet this Champion...

Also bravo to Charles Coutard, who lost only 5 points on Sunday (I had 47) and won with 15 in total blue Pre80 on a Bultaco (about 1973, but special).
