Part 4 Video Clips
To compete and take pics and videos in parallel ist not always an easy task. You have to study your line in the zone, take your position in the queue, ride, assist your team members at difficulties and then film. Comments or feedback always appreciated.
Anyway, here some pics and links to my youtube channel. A few famous riders still captured.
My team mate Edy Adam in zone 1 | the nasty roots, 11 Michel Traini ? |
Edy hill climbing | Team member Mathieu Feidt entry zone 1 Honda TLR |
Mat took a more direct line over the roots | Mat is attacking the hill climb |
a good rider on his Merlin in zone 2 | here the 350cc horse power was unloaded |
Ossa rider Oro Jove | Mister Magicals in zone 2, he took the wider curb |
Mathieu in zone 2, narrow curb | full body in advance |
Ex Fantic works rider Jaime Subira | passing the nasty step |
Dutch Honda rider Don Eggen | one dab is ok |
Edy Adam in zone 2 | and hopp |
Now the difficult zones 3 and 4:
Thierry Michaud in zone 3 on the first rock. He was riding alone without a team. | unfortunately, the second rock was too slippery |
Mathieu Feidt entry zone 3 | here you can see the quality of Mat, as he easily finds grip on the Honda |
Mat still in the long zone 3 | probably Michel Traini, but not sure, on the nasty rock |
Mat attacks the slippery rock in zone 4 | almost, but unfortunately he had
to jump from the bike watched by the champs |
Thierry Michaud passes | watched by Jaime Subira |
Edy attacks the rock, watched by Steve Saunders | already on top, he lost the balance |
now Philippe Berlatier on the Bultaco 340 | passes with luck and some dabs |
After the difficult zones, the red boucle was ending with the nice zone 5
Edy Adam exit zone 5 | Thierry Michaud cleans zone 5, still a great rider after 30 years! |
John Lampkin in zone 6, nice Fantic pants
Italian rider Paolo Noli, Honda 250, step in zone 7 | Paolo was in the team with Danilio Galeazzi and Enzo Afri |
Jordi Tarres speeding up the hill at zone 7 on the SWM | and easily jumps on the step. World class !!! |
now Philippe Berlatier on the Bultaco | arrives in good balance in front of the last step |
here you can see the difference, as a good rider like Philippe is balanced and finds grip | to attack with power the last step |
and now Steve Saunders on the Honda TLR | good balance |
all under controll | even air borne ! so easy... |
Enzo Afri is fighting with balance and grip | but still a great ride, brings the Moto Guzzi on top of the step |
Yrjo Vesterinen on the Tiger Cub, zone 7 blue line | Yrjo ist still fit with 60+ |
Edy Adam in zone 7 ist speeding up after the bend | Edy on top of the step |
The 2nd bouclé ended with zone 11 on sandy rocks. A delicate entry, a big step in the middle and a steep, but grippy ending. Unfortunately no video.
It was impressive to see the champs Tarres, Steve Saunders, Phil Berlatier, Gilles Burgat, Thierry & Fred Michaud, Charles Coutard, Yrjo etc. perform. Wow, they kept the good balance and power to master the zones. A great experience and joy to watch them in the zones.
It was already after 15h, when we headed to the last 6
zones and the sun was sinking quickely.
Zone 13 is famous and looks scarey on the big sandy rocks. The entry was tricky,
the sand on the stone made it difficult to find grip and the risk of a 5 was
inherent.
Gilles Sulista climbs the sandy rock or zone 13 | Bruno Mortet on Trail 70 Ossa |
Gilles Burgat at the last bend of zone 13 | Gilles Burgat on Fantic 300 zone 13 |
Edy Adam Honda TLR 250 zone 13 | uff, up the steep rock direction exit |
Fred Michaud, Fantic 300 zone 13
Gilles Burgat in zone 16 with impressive scenery | this exit looked a bit scary, will it grip? Yes, it did indeed ! |
Edy Adam did a great ride at zone 17, the waterfall | just about to make 1 dab on top of the waterfall rocks |
getting dark in the woods at 18h. Edy is heading to the exit with 1 dab.
Edy Adam in the last zone 18 | over the logg |
Uff, exhausted, after riding from 9h till 18h, but happy man and machine are still doing well. Now a cool beer with friends and a warm feeling of happiness on the sun set of the Provence.
Sunday again nice weather. Same zones, with 3 and 4 changed for better ridability plus a zone without inspection, with a big nasty step at the end.
An SWM in zone 2 Sunday | Don Eggen on Honda in zone 2 |
a Tiger Cub attacks the big rock climb in zone 2 |
Edy Adam in a very unfortunate position: hug the tree. Luckily, he had no blessures |
the good Spanish rider Rovira on BSA. His team was 2nd in the red !!! | a rare Cota 247 in zone 2 |
the other BSA rider from team Rovira | SWM in zone 4 |
Edy Adam on the nasty rock in zone 4 | today he passes |
the middle part had a scarey 10m rock to climb | Rovira attacks the entry rock with his Pre65 BSA |
Vilarnau on Tiger cub mastering zone 7 | Donald Eggen in good balance to master the step zone 7 |
great ride of World Champion Jordi Tarres on SWM in zone 8 | Jordi is looking at the next challange ahead |
an SWM in zone 8 exit of difficult bend with roots | another SWM in Zone 8 |
Davide, Italian Fantic Rider from team Pollein in zone 8 | here the superbe ride of Jordi Tarres in zone 7. watch his balance and grip, amazing ! |
Those zones 7 and 8 were reached after a long interzone with spikey rocks, careful not to get a puncture. The 8 needed some dedicated acceleration to climb the rocky steps and the exit around a tree was tricky.
The last bouclé started with the great scenery in zone 12. A big step at the entry, a tricky bend around a tree and then a long hill climb on the sandy rock.
Jordi Tarres at entry step zone 12
this is the long
climb on the rock, don't want to slide back all over the rock... no problem for Jordi |
Vilarnau at the difficult bend around the tree |
John Lampkin Fantic on the middle part of zone 12, here with a
superbe zero in the long climb afterwards, the Fantic stalled (carb?) and John had to retire |
here comes
Steve Saunders on Honda TLR 250, so easy....! ok, Steve knows the Honda 4-stroke engine very well |
Mathieu Feidt in zone 15 |
Gilles Burgat in the waterfall of zone 17 (I was few secs too late) the crowed went mad and gave a big applause for his zero |
Edy Adam in the waterfall zone 17 | looking for grip and balance |
Eric Lejeune was always a big attraction on his twin Honda 175 Pre65 Eric was in the team with Charles and Yrjo |
Mr. Honda Patrick Pissis in the last zone 18, of course on a Honda |
Julien Panabieres on the Kawasaki KT 250 in zone 18 |
The end, fin.
